Glosson Livestock

Facility

The Facility

Glosson Livestock sits on Highway 6 in Eastland County, Texas. Barn, arena, cattle, turnout and hay under one operation, kept the way we would want our own horses kept — because most of the horses here have been ours.

The place

Barn, arena and cattle.

Everything a young horse needs is on one property — which means a horse is not hauled somewhere else to see a cow, and nothing waits on somebody else’s schedule.

Barn & stalls
A working barn with clean stalls, maintained daily.
Riding arena
Worked ground for daily riding and schooling.
Cattle
Cattle on the place, used as appropriate within each horse’s program.
Turnout & paddocks
Turnout with good fencing, used as suits the horse and the season.
Hay & feed storage
Quality alfalfa and Purina Strategy stored on site.
Tack room
Equipment kept clean, organized and in good repair.

Horse care

Care is not a side item.

A young horse that is not eating well, not resting well or not comfortable is not learning. Daily care here is treated as part of the training, not as something that happens around it.

Feed
Quality alfalfa and the barn’s standard Purina Strategy ration, fed on a consistent daily program.
Water
Clean water available to every horse, checked as part of daily care.
Stalls
Clean stalls, maintained daily, in a barn built for horses that are being ridden.
Turnout
Turnout and paddock time as appropriate for the individual horse and the season.
Condition
Horses are kept in good body condition and looked over every day by the person riding them.
Communication
Regular updates on how your horse is doing, with video when it is practical.

Nothing here is a veterinary or medical guarantee. Veterinary care, farrier work and emergency treatment are arranged as needed and billed to the owner, and we will reach you before anything significant happens whenever circumstances allow.

Coming from out of town

Shipping a horse in

Most of our outside horses come from somewhere else in Texas. Eastland sits on I-20 between Fort Worth and Abilene, which makes us an easy half-day haul from the Metroplex, Weatherford, Stephenville, Granbury, Abilene, San Angelo and the Hill Country. We can usually help coordinate a hauler if you need one.

Owners are welcome to come see the horse work. Visits are by appointment so Monte is not on a colt when you get here.
